ABOUT ME

My name is Denise Reyes and I am an assistant professor at University of Houston in the Industrial/Organizational Psychology program. Click here to access my CV.  My research aims to reach the individual, organizational, and societal level. I focus on diversity and leadership in teams, specifically underrepresented groups attaining leadership positions. My research also focuses on individual differences in how rejection is handled in the workplace (i.e., professional rejection sensitivity). I hope to find useful approaches and empirically-sound interventional techniques to reduce sensitivity to professional rejection, in order to help individuals further their career success.

I am originally from Windermere, Florida (you can see the Disney World fireworks from my backyard). I received my PhD  in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Rice University (Go Owls!) and my Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Central Florida in Psychology with a minor in Leadership Studies.

I’m a huge foodie! I like my pasta al dente (because I’m an impatient cook) and my cheese in every way. During my spare time I love traveling and discovering new places. Outside of the contiguous U.S., I’ve visited Alaska, Puerto Rico, France, Czech Republic, Mexico, Turkey, Italy,Germany, Japan, Australia, Greece, Argentina, and the Galápagos Islands. I can’t wait for my next adventure!
